A look back at 2016
Bits of Freedom is a foundation that advocates for our digital civil rights. We have enjoyed working together on their projects for years. This includes the annual report. This year's edition is special; in fact, you need 3D glasses to view it in its entirety.

Bits of Freedom stands up for two fundamental rights in your digital communication that are indispensable for your freedom: privacy and freedom of communication. The advent of the Internet and other technologies has given us wonderful, new possibilities, and at the same time it also gives the government and business far-reaching control possibilities. Bits of Freedom is the watchdog that makes sure we don't lose those rights in the digital world.

Visualizing contradiction
This year, for the first time, a Dutch and English edition of the annual report was chosen. This has resulted in a dichotomy in the report, both in language and image, which fits very well within the context of Bits of Freedom: Innovation often has another side, look for example at the positive effects of technical innovation, which often also brings privacy issues.
In order to portray the contradiction, we chose to place two contradictory images on top of each other, which can be seen separately by using 3D glasses.

Cyan and magenta
The report is designed in two colors, cyan and magenta, and by using 3D glasses you can switch between content by closing one eye each time. Since it is almost impossible to really read in 3D without glasses, we collectively came up with the idea of separating the colors to discover hidden content and special features.

Good initiative
Because we stand behind Bits of Freedom, we are official corporate supporters of the foundation.
