A big welcome to Chris Kirk!
Hailing from Leeds but now long gone from northern England, our new DevOps engineer traveled the globe, taught jiu jitsu and wrangled himself free from corporate life to grace us with his experience, sense of humor and kind personality. We’re very pleased to have him on board and asked him some questions by way of introduction. Please meet Chris Kirk!
Why did you choose Unc Inc?
Checking out Unc Inc’s website the thing I loved was the portfolio. After working for years in large multinational corporations I was tired of regularly seeing my clients in the news for reasons I was not proud of and against my personal beliefs. It was refreshing to find a digital agency collaborating in grass roots projects and making a positive impact on the world. Then after meeting the teams I knew Unc Inc was my first choice.
What is your first impression of Unc Inc?
Unc Inc was exactly what I needed when I started. Friendly, dedicated and enthusiastic colleagues who are willing to collaborate and contribute towards creating a great office culture. I’ve often heard companies professing to have a flat organisational structure however it’s never been more true here.
About this office culture, your colleagues seem to prefer calling you by your surname rather than your given name. Fans of Star Trek are they, hmm?
There’s no escaping it, it follows me everywhere! I do see some of myself as the Captain; ready to take the helm, leading people boldly into the unknown and bending a few rules along the way ;-)
What will you be working on in the near future?
Currently I’m heavily involved in upgrading our Drupal CMS platform and keeping site security up to date. The work doesn’t stop there though, there are ambitious plans to develop the devops department and expand our automation with Ansible and Kubernetes. Technology changes every day in IT, there’s always the next big thing!
Eager to contribute your skills to the greater good, just like Chris?
In a young and tight-knit team we work on meaningful projects. But whatever it is we create, it's always an intense collaboration between individuals. That's why we look beyond your professional experience to see your human skills and help you develop both. Got you curious?
