Unc Inc at The Next Web
Unc Inc attended The Next Web conference last week. TNW is a two-day tech event with interesting speakers in the fields of innovation & tech, media & marketing, entrepreneurship & talent, with a meeting place for startups and investors and a large workshop offering.

Lots of inspiration
TNW was the perfect place for us to get inspired and network. For two days, all 19 Unc Inc-ers listened to inspiring keynote speakers, met new people and attended interesting workshops. Between sessions, we got together to share our experiences with each other. And a few of our highlights we would like to share with you as well.

Keynote 'Calm Technology' by Amber Case
Amber Case (author of Calm Technology) explores the interaction between people and computers and how our relationship with information changes how cultures think, act and understand their world.
Tech should make life easier, but it often makes it more complicated. We have become dependent on devices where technical flaws were not considered in development. Imagine if the device crashes or the power goes out. Do we then fall back on the basic operation of the device? With an old-fashioned escalator, it automatically becomes a regular staircase, but many innovative devices lack this basic function. For example, a device that uses an app to feed your faithful four-legged friend during your vacation no longer functions when there is a server failure. There goes your worry-free vacation.
Our UI / UX designer Harmen summarized Amber Case's inspiring keynote

Keynote "Creativity it the new literacy" by Chase Jarvis.
Creativity is not a gift, but something you can learn says Chase Jarvis. After years of hard work, he managed to make a living as a photographer. But just when things were going very well for him, the phone with camera and photo apps began its rise. This could jeopardize his work as a photographer. But he proved otherwise. For he went back to the core of photography: creativity. Because in the end, no innovation or technology can beat that.

Full bellies
The love of Unc Inc-ers goes through the stomach. And attentive listening and networking just makes you hungry ;) Fortunately, TNW served a wide variety of power food such as burgers, hot dogs, fries and more.
Sharing is caring
Between keynotes and workshops, we gathered for snacks and drinks. And to share our experiences and most interesting keynotes with each other. So combining inspiration and fun. And that looked something like this:
In the photo
How do you get 19 people in front of a 3D camera that can handle a maximum of 9 people? On his Unc Inc's of course ;) Say cheese!
