Second place at the Museum Night Hackathon!

Amsterdam is becoming increasingly crowded, making it harder for residents and visitors to find their way through the crowds. That's why Appsterdam and Museumnacht organized a hackathon to improve the mobility, navigation and accessibility of the city.

We too took up this challenge with both hands and worked on the Cultour app at the Scheepsvaartmuseum last Saturday with a team of five, from 7:30 in the morning until 3 in the afternoon.

Cultour helps you discover the city's culture beyond the museums. Using open data, interesting cultural hotspots are plotted on a map. Users can make random new discoveries, actively seek out the spots or walk a tour. Discover the life of Rembrandt in our city, or check out the architecture of the Amsterdam School. And do you happen to be near such a spot? Then you will automatically receive a notification to keep you informed.

At the end of the evening, our app was crowned the lucky winner of second place, with a reward of €2500! The next step? Talking to the municipality and other parties with interest and this app to make it available as soon as possible to everyone who wants to get to know Amsterdam better.
