Eve of inspiration
Eve of inspiration is our own little event that comes back monthly to inspire and motivate each other about innovation, technology, design and other cool stuff.
These Tuesday evenings always begin with hungry stomachs waiting for food to arrive at the office. After a nice quick dinner, the projector is plugged in and the evening's kickoff begins.
Depending on the topic of the evening, there are a number of people who substantiate and demonstrate their research and findings. Interesting discussions and issues always arise here.
Deze dinsdagavonden beginnen altijd met hongerige magen die wachten tot het eten arriveert op het kantoor. Na een gezellig snel dinertje, wordt de beamer aangesloten en begint de kickoff van de avond.
Afhangend van het onderwerp van de avond zijn er een aantal mensen die hun onderzoek en bevindingen onderbouwen en tonen. Hier ontstaan altijd interessante discussies en vraagstukken.
Theme nights
Each 'eve' has its own theme that ties in with all the different areas of expertise we have in-house. One of our last editions was about "Forms. The interaction designers started with the best practices of User Experience and User Interface.
- Make it fun and personal
- Make it clear with proper labels and placeholders
- Make it as simple as possible
Then the design department presented different options in validation, labels, fields, buttons and mobile visual optimization. Finally, technology talks about what the best approach is, how the findings can be realized and which parts we still need to learn about.
Another example of an "eve" that recurs more often is regarding one of our own projects, Pricepin for example. Here we discuss progress, challenge ourselves to be even more innovative and look for improvements. We immediately make concrete plans and goals so that own projects remain well under development.
Delightful brainstorming
In the past we have had a number of inspiration evenings where everyone came up with cool, interesting or beautiful websites/tools/programs/inventions with no theme attached. These were always fun and educational evenings, but by working with themes, everyone with their own expertise can really add relevance. You notice that everyone is developing and learning from each other, which always makes these evenings very interesting and useful.
