Why take an internship at Unc Inc?
Over the years we have welcomed many trainees. More than once they stayed connected to us by becoming part-time or (later) even full-time employees. Starting in August or September, we have room again to accommodate new interns. But you might be better off hearing it from someone else, why an internship with Unc Inc is a great way to gain practical knowledge and work experience. That's why we asked Candace, Inge and Jasper, interns in Development, Design and Marketing & Communications

Why did you choose to do an internship at Unc Inc?
I was looking for a mission-driven company and was pointed to Unc Inc by a fellow student, where the 'human centric' approach to product development really appealed to me. HVC in particular seemed like an interesting client. In the case you can clearly read how the developers create value for a waste collection and recycling company that serves more than half a million households. I was eager to learn how to work with React and the opportunity to develop myself into a full stack developer. On the website I already saw that there is a flat and informal company culture, there seemed to be a close bond between colleagues at Unc Inc.

Why did you choose to intern at Unc Inc?
The main reason was the portfolio. Being engaged every day with clients who stand for a better world is what I was specifically looking for in my internship. I saw from the socials that there was a cozy and homey atmosphere. I thought, "This is where I need to be!" I also saw from the website that Unc Inc is committed to website accessibility (WCAG) and functional design. Functional and accessible design matched my own style.
Do you have a tip for your successor?
Ask a lot of questions! Ask for feedback often because you will get a lot in return. Constantly checking in with each other will lead to something better. Jeffrey is also busy with his own work so at first I felt a little embarrassed to ask him things. But he didn't mind at all. He actually liked it and was happy to help. So dare to ask.

Why did you choose to do an internship at Unc Inc?
I came in contact with the company through my friend Jeffrey (Geleijn, Product Designer at Unc Inc, ed.). After some positive experiences, an opportunity to do a Marketing & Communications internship presented itself. The atmosphere and the social commitment really attracted me. In previous jobs and internships, I mainly had to do work for someone else, that's how it felt. So not for myself or even something bigger than myself. At Unc Inc, that was possible.
